If it opens a website, it works
Luminography's display runs entirely in the browser, so there's nothing to sideload or app-store. Pick whatever screen you already have lying around.
Smart TV
Use the TV's built-in web browser (Samsung Internet, LG's browser, etc.). Great for a wall-mounted screen that's always on.
Streaming stick
Fire TV Stick, Chromecast with Google TV, or an Android TV box. Install a browser, then point it at your display.
Raspberry Pi
A Pi running Chromium in kiosk mode is the classic always-on signage setup. Cheap, silent, and boots straight to your screen.
Tablet or old phone
An old iPad or Android tablet on a stand makes a perfect kitchen or desk display. Just open the browser full-screen.
Kiosk PC or laptop
Any spare Windows, Mac, or Linux machine works — open a browser tab and press full-screen. Ideal for testing before you commit a device.
Mini PC / NUC
A small always-on box wired to a monitor. Set the display page as the browser's start page and you're done.
Connect a screen in three steps
You'll use two things at once: the screen itself (the TV or device that will display content) and your console (the Luminography admin site on your phone or laptop, where you control everything).
📺 Open Luminography on the screen
On the TV or device, open its web browser and go to luminography.io (the same site you sign in to). Then open the display page and put the browser into full-screen.
The screen will register itself automatically and show a welcome page with a QR code and a pairing code — a short code that uniquely identifies this device. Leave this page up.
🔗 Claim it in your console
On your phone or laptop, sign in to Luminography and open the Screens page. Click Add Screen and enter the pairing code shown on the display (or scan the QR code with your phone to grab it).
- The screen is now linked to your account and appears in your Screens list.
- New displays also show up here automatically once they've booted against your site — claiming by pairing code is how you attach an unassigned one to your account.
- Give it a friendly name later, like “Kitchen TV” or “Living Room.”
🎨 Pick a theme and you're live
Click the screen in your list to open its control panel. Choose a theme from the visual grid, set the orientation (portrait or landscape), adjust brightness and rotation speed, then hit Done.
The change is pushed to the device in real time — the screen switches to your chosen theme within a second, no refresh needed. Adjust it any time from anywhere; the display follows along instantly.
What the screen looks like before it's claimed
When a fresh device first loads, it lands on the welcome page. The QR code and the pairing code underneath it are what you use in step 2. A green “connected” indicator confirms it's talking to the server and ready to be claimed.
Once you assign a theme, this page is replaced by your content full-screen — no menus, no chrome.
Setting up your exact device
The three steps are the same everywhere — here's the practical detail for the most common displays, including how to get the browser open and keep it awake.
📺 Smart TV browser Samsung, LG, Android TV
- Open the TV's built-in web browser from the apps menu.
- Navigate to
luminography.ioand open the display page. - Bookmark it or set it as the browser home page so it reloads on power-on.
- In the TV's settings, turn off any screen-saver or auto-sleep timer, and set picture mode to a bright, non-dimming preset.
A few habits for a rock-solid display
Stop the screen sleeping
Most connection “drops” are just the device dozing off. Disable screensavers, sleep timers, and auto-lock on the device itself.
Tune brightness remotely
Each screen has a brightness slider in its control panel. Dial it down for bedrooms or overnight — the change applies live.
It reconnects on its own
If Wi-Fi blips, the display automatically re-establishes its connection when the network returns — no need to touch the device.
Name your screens
“Kitchen TV,” “Garage,” “She Shed” — clear names make it obvious which device you're changing from your phone.
Give it steady Wi-Fi
A display streams content continuously, so a stable network keeps themes crisp and up to date. Wired or 5 GHz Wi-Fi is ideal for an always-on screen.
Schedule theme changes
On a Pro plan you can schedule themes to switch automatically — sports on game night, photos in the morning — with no manual step.
